London Film Day, presented by the Mayor of London in association with Film London and the BFI London Film Festival, took place yesterday. The centerpiece of the Day was 15 sold out world public premieres of Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang taking place in different cinemas across the London. Other activity saw lucky competition winners taking a tour of Ealing Studios and enjoying a special film tour from the London Eye among lots of other film related prizes. For Londoners it was a chance to celebrate the magic of cinema and much fun was had by the thousands people who got involved in the first ever London Film Day.

From PULSE film-makers Tom Harper (Cubs, Cherries) and Jack Thorne (The Mascot), and the team behind Slumdog Millionaire, comes a modern teen love story with an unexpected twist. The Scouting Book for Boys, proof that a big product can emerge from a small start, hit cinemas across the UK on Friday.

Andrew Lang’s Sons of Cuba took part in the Breakthrough strand of London UK Film Focus (LUFF) in 2009. The award-winning documentary releases in selected cinemas from today, thanks in part to the crucial exposure it gained through Film London’s annual British export event. The final call for applications is fast approaching – get your application in before the end of the week!

The final round of Mid Mediabox is now open for applications, deadline 8 April. As usual there will be a day of advice surgeries where applicants to this round can book half an hour with an advisor to discuss ways to strengthen their application.
