One of the most consistently exciting and versatile actors working today joins us to discuss his career.
Known for his extraordinary dedication to his craft as well as his commanding screen presence, Viggo Mortensen has established a reputation as one of the most consistently exciting and versatile actors working today. His early career saw him give memorable performances in Sean Penn’s The Indian Runner, Brian De Palma’s Carlito’s Way and Philip Ridley’s The Passion of Darkly Noon, but it was the role of the heroic Aragorn in Peter Jackson’s blockbuster Lord of the Rings trilogy that really brought the actor to global attention. The second of three collaborations with director David Cronenberg, Eastern Promises, led to an Oscar Nomination in 2008 and stand-out performances in films such as Ed Harris’ Appaloosa, John Hillcoat’s The Road and Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method followed. We are delighted to be screening his most recent film, director Ana Piterbarg’s Everybody Has a Plan, in this year’s Festival and it’s with great pleasure that we welcome him back to the LFF for this Screen Talk.
