BERLINALE SPECIAL Film of the week: “Olympia” by Leo Damario (Screening Info + Poster + Trailer)
Marking the beginning of this weeks Berlin International Film Festival, more communtly known as the Berlinale, Latin America Film has selected “Olympia” as “Film of the week”.
If you are lucky enough to be in Berlin this weekend we would strongly recommend to check this very special work by first time feature filmmaker and exceptionally young director Leo Damario.
But please! do not think that he just started, at the age of 16 Leo created his first animated sitcom and never looked back. Since then he has seen major success with short and feature films and now has progressed to commercials. Throughout his work, you can see his beautiful treatment of the feminine form and how the aesthetic is always central to his imagery. Damario has a deep love of Italian cinema, and just like Fellini, those who have been on set with him have never seen him wear the same thing twice! A multi-talented individual, he is a cartoonist, a storyteller and a self-taught musician. Leo has limitless potential and should be a director to keep on your radar.
With Olympia narrates the story of an 18 years old aspiring porn star. Who, after starring couple amateur videos, enters the mainstream industry in her first major title, which includes a scene with 16 other men. Different personalities from the Rock, Fashion and Porn Universe are to accompany the 18 years to become a renown pop culture star.
GENTE Magazine says: “the movie that breaks the mold”
Diario Clarin says: “For the greedy: models, porn and social networks”
Rolling Stones says: “A great mix of porn and hot couture”
So if you get to the screening please do get back to us and let us know what you think.
