Among this year’s co-production recipients are BD Cine’s comedy All In, from Argentina’s award-winning producer-director Daniel Burman; Control Z‘s Tanta Agua, from the Uruguayan shingle that produced Whisky and Giant; and Fabula‘s Las Ninas, from the Chilean producers of Pablo Larrain’s Post Mortem and Tony Manero.
Also getting support was Spain’s Everybody Has a Plan, the directorial debut of Argentine helmer Ana Piterbarg. Fox International Prods. recently inked a deal for worldwide rights to Everybody Has a Plan, which stars Viggo Mortensen alongside Soledad Villamil (The Secret in Their Eyes).
Bolivia and Venezuela came up big this year with more than a dozen pictures scoring funding for development and co-productions.
In Mexico, auteur Ruben Imaz won developmental support for Tormentero (Stormmaker). Imaz’s third feature film tells the story of a fisherman tormented by phantoms.
Established in 1997, Ibermedia funding comes from annual contributions made by film institutes of member nations in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal.
