Festival of Cuban Cinema Opened in Indonesia
The Cuban ambassador in Indonesia, Jorge Leon, participated on Tuesday in the inauguration of a festival of Cuban cinema at the Bentura Butaya cultural center in Jakarta, the Indonesian capital.
The two-day event takes place as part of several activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Cuba and Indonesia. Leon ratified Cuba´s willingness to continue working to further strengthen the excellent ties between the two nations. He also gave details about the films and documentaries scheduled to be screened during the festival that have received very favorable opinions from the public, critics and other specialists.
Also speaking in the inauguration of the event were the president of the Art and Culture Institution of Indonesia and journalist of the KOMPAS newspaper, Irwan Julianto, and the deputy chief editor of KOMPAS, Trias Kuncahyono.
Present were ambassadors from the Latin American, Caribbean and Iberoamerican Group and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Indonesia as well as local intellectuals.
