Argentina’s Intl. Film Festival moves dates
Argentine festival to run Nov. 13-21
Argentina’s Mar del Plata Intl. Film Festival has brought forward this year’s edition by a week to avoid conflicts with an Ibero-American presidential summit in the seaside city.
The 25th edition of the event will run Nov. 13-21 instead of the previously planned Nov. 20-28 because security measures for the presidential summit, which runs Dec. 1-4, would make organization harder and complicate the movement of spectators, said Incaa, the state film board and fest organizer.
Mar del Plata is the only Latin American festival in international producer org Fiapf’s A list, rubbing shoulders with Berlin, Cannes and Venice.
It is now taking submissions for Argentine documentaries, features and shorts for the international competish — the fest’s most prestigious — as well as for the Argentine, Latin American and works-in-progress competitions. The Latin American films in these competitions will be screened at Ventana Sur, a growing film market in Latin America that will unspool Dec. 3-6 in Buenos Aires.
