Cuba and the Spanish Cinema of the New Millennium

Film lovers in Havana had a good time with the second season of contemporary Spanish cinema. Cuban critic Frank Padrón brings us a review on the films.

The second season of Spanish cinema of the new millennium was inaugurated with the screening of the successful Celda 211 (2009) by Daniel Monzón, at the Cuban Cinematheque’s “Chaplin Movie Theater.

Also, in the theater’s lobby, moviegoers had the opportunity to enjoy the exhibition “Juan de Orduña: locura de amor por el cine” (Juan de Orduña: Madly in Love with Cinema), in charge of moviemaker Antonio Jiménez-Rico and Lourdes de Orduña, prior to the showing of the film Alba de América, by this prestigious director, the following day.
