Argentina’s film “Andres no quiere dormir la siesta” (”Andre does not want to nap”), directed by Daniel Bustamante and starring Norma Aleandro, will compete as the only Latin American film in the Official Selection at the Montreal Film Festival, which takes place in the Canadian city until 7 September.Filmed last year in Buenos Aires and Santa Fe, the opera prima de Bustamante will be screened tomorrow and Sunday at the Festival des Films du Monde in Montreal, one of the largest in the Americas. The film’s story takes place in the city of Santa Fe between 1977 and 1978 in a middle-class neighborhood, peripheral, where kids play in the streets and where neighbors come and go to other houses just like that.
Insecurity is not an issue that preoccupies the people, events and parties accentuated these features, and the carnival is a neighborhood event, the naps are suspended for kids to play with water, wetting between them.
Andrew lives in this framework, a child of 8 years after the death of his mother in an accident must move to her grandmother Olga and her father, Raul, with his brother Armando.
In the neighborhood where they live does a clandestine detention center, an open secret that Andrew will coexist with and adding to the reality of the neighborhood and his family having to adapt to the rules of the new house.
