Havana Film Festival New York 11 Years of Latin American Cinema
15 Films Compete for The Havana Star Prize, April 16-23, 2010 with special events April 7 & 9
The Havana Film Festival New York (HFFNY) launches its second decade, April 16-23, with a program of award-winning films, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions with noted international filmmakers, actors and producers. Special events are scheduled for April 7th at El Museo del Barrio and April 9th at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. Over 40 highly anticipated and influential films from and about Latin America, the Caribbean and Latinos in the U.S. will be screened.
A variety of genres and themes from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, U.S. and Uruguay, ranging from comedy, thrillers, drama, film noir and children’s tales, as well as films and documentaries about the influence of music and dance are all part of this year’s Festival. Traditional Havana Night at Havana Film Festival New York
Delightful night at Havana The National Arts in Manhattan opened the 11th annual festival of cuban and latino cinema in New York. A very nice dinner was served with wine and typical cuban food where all present could appreciate art, music and a silent and live auction filled with a variety of treasures for everyone including authentic Cuban cigars, rum and movie posters; works of art by renowned Cuban artists – Yoan Capote, Diago, Fabelo and Quintana and emerging local painters; clothing and accessories from Marc Jacobs, Catherine Malandrino, Vera Wang and others; theater tickets; services; exceptional wines and spirits and other luxury items. New York, 9 March 2010. Two media giants and a prominent journalist will be honored for their exceptional support of the Latino community and the Havana Film Festival New York (HFFNY) on Thursday, March 18th at A Havana Night Benefit Gala in The National Arts Club 15 Gramercy Park South. HFFNY is proud to honor Telemundo, the oldest Spanish-language television network in the U.S. for its leadership in promoting Latino culture for 45 years and El Diario La Prensa, the largest Spanish-language daily newspaper in the U.S. for its outstanding coverage of the U.S. Latino and Latin American communities.
