El Festival de Cine y Video Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires anuncia la preconvocatoria para su 8va edición del 17 al 26 de Septiembre de 2010.

Apertura recepción inscripciones 09 Enero de 2010.
Recepción de fichas de inscripción electrónica en la web hasta 16 de julio de 2010.
Recepción de materiales y/o ponencias hasta el 30 de Julio de 2010.
La selección final estará resuelta el 10 de Agosto del 2010.
Debido a la gran actividad por el Bicentenario, las fechas serán respetadas a rajatabla.

Sons of Cuba film gets UK cinema release
Award-winning feature documentary SONS OF CUBA, supported by World Circuit, will be released at the ICA, London on 18th March and in arthouse cinemas nationwide from 30th March. The project has been a labour of love for young director Andrew Lang who spent a year living in Cuba in order to gain unprecedented access to the legendary Havana Boxing Academy, the state institution that breeds future boxing champions for the island that has dominated Olympic medals in the sport for the last few decades.
SONS OF CUBA follows the stories of three young hopefuls through 8 dramatic months of training and education as they prepare for the biggest event of their lives so far: Cuba’s National Boxing Championship for Under-12s. But during the season, crisis strikes: Fidel Castro is taken ill and all of Cuba’s Olympic boxing champions defect to the USA. As the championship draws closer, the Cuba that the boys have been taught to believe in is at an historic crossroads.

El festival, previsto del 21 de abril al 2 de mayo, pondrá este año una docena de películas disponibles en su portal de Internet, incluyendo “The Sentimental Engine Slayer” y “Elvis and Madonna”
El fin de la adolescencia en la frontera de México y Estados Unidos, la historia de los más famosos Escobar de Colombia y un taxista en busca de venganza en Bogotá forman parte del reducido repertorio de obras latinoamericano que se presentarán este año en el festival de cine de Tribeca. (more…)
