3rd Brazilian Film Festival of London to arrive in September
The third edition of the Brazilian Film Festival of London is coming to town and Sounds and Colours will once again be supporting the festival. Taking place from Tuesday 6th September, with an Opening Gala Night at BAFTA and ending on the night of Saturday 10th September at Odeon Covent Garden, the festival will show 10 feature length and 9 short films from Brazil (all with English subtitiles).
All films will be shown at Odeon Covent Garden, except for Man From The Future on the Opening Night, which will be at BAFTA.
One of the films we really can’t wait to see is Filhos de João, O Admirável Mundo Novo Baiano, now going by the much more English title of Sons of Joao, the Admirable New Baiano World, which tells the story of (more…)
‘Elite Squad 2′ becomes Brazil’s top movie of all time
“Elite Squad 2,” a Brazilian movie mixing explosive action with political intrigue, has become Brazil’s top movie of all time, besting even the US blockbuster “Avatar” at the national box office, producers and industry specialists said Tuesday.
The movie, a sequel to a 2007 original that also became a huge success, has taken 60.5 million dollars in Brazilian ticket sales since its premiere three months ago, topping the 60.4 million dollars “Avatar” pocketed over a similar period, the industry outlet Filme B said. (more…)
Essential Brazilian Films by: BaalMan
It is not a easy job making a list of Brazilian Films. Firstly, the number of films available in The Auteurs is very poor. Secondly, many of these films aren’t available on DVD even in Brazil. You could find them on Internet, but probably you won’t find subtitles. So I am wandering if make sense pointing out films that you couldn’t see.
