3rd Brazilian Film Festival of London to arrive in September


The third edition of the Brazilian Film Festival of London is coming to town and Sounds and Colours will once again be supporting the festival. Taking place from Tuesday 6th September, with an Opening Gala Night at BAFTA and ending on the night of Saturday 10th September at Odeon Covent Garden, the festival will show 10 feature length and 9 short films from Brazil (all with English subtitiles).
All films will be shown at Odeon Covent Garden, except for Man From The Future on the Opening Night, which will be at BAFTA.
One of the films we really can’t wait to see is Filhos de João, O Admirável Mundo Novo Baiano, now going by the much more English title of Sons of Joao, the Admirable New Baiano World, which tells the story of (more…)

Rio International Film Festival – Première Brasil: The Best of Brazil -


Première Brasil, which has as its festival home the historic Odeon Petrobras in downtown Rio de Janeiro, is the heart of Festival do Rio and the best annual global showcase of contemporary Brazilian cinema.
Première Brasil is the only competitive section of Festival do Rio with jury awards to be presented on Tuesday, 5 October. Three highly prized audience awards will also be bestowed on the best Brazilian feature film, best documentary and best short film.
This year Première Brasil includes nine feature films, eight feature length documentaries and 21 shorts. A further three features and two documentary features will screen hors concours, (more…)

The Brazilian Film Festival brings the excitement of Brazilian cinema to Miami Beach every spring. Nicknamed BRAFF Miami, the Brazilian Film Festival screens more than three dozen Brazilian films over nine days. Competitive entries in the Miami Beach Brazilian Film Festival include feature-length films and short films vying for Crystal Lens Awards in a variety of categories. Brazilian Film Festival in London: Barbican 25th Jun – 3rd July


For the fourth consecutive year the Barbican, with the support of the Embassy of Brazil, will be hosting a Brazilian film festival. The features and documentaries that make up Cinema of Brazil – Music and Rhythm (25 June – 3 July) all have music at their heart. Alongside documentaries about legends such as Vinicius de Morães, Tom Jobim and Caetano Veloso are films revolving around lesser-known strands of Brazilian music such as rap and country.

This year, the fourth installment of Cinema of Brazil has music as its theme, screening 10 award- winning films and documentaries featuring Brazil’s brightest music icons and diverse styles. (more…)
