@EastEndFilmFest screening of The Last Elvis screens Sunday 8th at 7pm in association with @ARGFilmFest
The debut feature by the acclaimed screenwriter of Alejandro González Iñarritu´s Biutiful, The Last Elvis had its premiere at Sundance Film Festival this year where it was also nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. The film focuses on a delusional Elvis impersonator in Buenos Aires – played by real life impersonator John McInerny, in what The Hollywood Reporter described as a “riveting performance” – who sacrifices happiness with his wife and daughter in his unstoppable quest for fame, until a tragic accident forces him to reassess his priorities.
Sofia Serbin de Skalon, Director of the Argentine Film Festival said: “We are delighted to be in association with the East End Film Festival for this screening. The East End Film Festival has a long-standing reputation for championing pioneering work by independent filmmakers across the globe and Armando Bo’s film is one of the most exciting debuts to come out of Argentina this year.” Andrew Simpson, Head of Programming at the East End Film Festival added: “The Last Elvis is a terrific film by a talented new director and just another example of the high-calibre films being produced in Argentina right now. We’re looking forward to discovering more films from Latin America in future editions.
