If you have a taste for modern cinema, particularly the best and brightest of Latin American film, then you’ll want to check out the Cinesul Short Film Festival and see some of the newest and most exciting short films released within Latin America this year.
Each year, nearly a thousand short film entries are turned in from all over Latin America, including Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Chile, Spain and Peru. Only the best 250 make it to the semi-finals. Of the finalists, 20 feature length and an additional 54 shorter length movies are chosen to appear in the Cinesul Short Film Festival for your viewing pleasure.
The short film festival has been in existence nearly 20 years and has a reputation for finding the latest gems in film and filmmaking, so you are sure to have a thrilling experience. Originally, Cinesul began as a way to provide exposure for the independent filmmakers that without big commercial backing, fail to get the notice their works deserve.
Today, not only are the independent films getting exposure locally, they now draw a global audience. All of the screenings are free, and you will want to join the many lively debates going on about the state of film and film production in Latin America.
