Dioses
A story of the ‘haves’ in contemporary Peruvian society, told with compassion and insight, Josué Méndez’s second film captures the hedonistic, self-destructive nihilism of two upper-class students home for the summer, in the protective bubble of their wealthy family. Part satire, part black comedy, Dioses uses the outsider’s perspective of the siblings’ future stepmother (who is from much humbler origins) to comment on the absurdities of a world of excess.
